Knowing where you want to be in the future inspires the decisions you make today. -Emily Tevault, Chief Producktivity Officer
This is a critical principle that tends to be overlooked. You are so eager to check something off of your ever-growing list that you forget to take a step back and reflect on the bigger picture. What is your vision, and how will your ducks add value to your pond? It is imperative to critically analyze and make the connections between the information collected and what is needed from your human and financial resources to accomplish your goals.
After you have successfully identified your options using data collection, brainstorming and research strategies, take a step back from the details to review the bigger picture. In a world with massive amounts of information, it can become difficult to know what to do with all of the data. Creating a vision gives you the opportunity to connect the collected data with your ultimate goals. A clearly defined vision is meant to inspire everyone to look to the future and move forward. Ask yourself, “What is the desired outcome? What do I want to accomplish in 5, 10, 15 years?” Dream big; then, dream bigger.
